1940 Carmen is the eighth studio album by Chilean-Mexican singer-songwriter Mon Laferte, released on October 29, 2021, through Universal Music México. Written and produced by Laferte during her stay in Los Angeles, where she discovered she was pregnant, the album takes its name from the address of her temporary apartment. Its intimate songs in Spanish and English explore love, change and motherhood through a stripped-back, guitar-led sound drawing on 1960s pop, folk rock and country-blues. Featuring “Algo es Mejor”, “Good Boy” and “A Crying Diamond”, the album received a nomination for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
