CHAPPELL ROAN
Chappell Roan is an American singer and songwriter known for her camp, drag queen–influenced aesthetic and a voice that turns personal queer experience into anthemic pop. Born in Missouri, she spent years writing and releasing music independently after being dropped by Atlantic Records in 2020, working odd jobs while continuing to craft her sound with producer Dan Nigro.
Her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (2023) was initially a slow burn — included in year-end best-of lists by Rolling Stone, Billboard and Pitchfork — before exploding into a global phenomenon in 2024, eventually peaking at number two on the Billboard 200. The breakout single “Good Luck, Babe!” reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and became an international top-five hit, while “Hot to Go!” went multi-platinum and her 2020 cult favourite “Pink Pony Club” reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. In 2025, she won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and earned her second UK number-one with “The Subway”.
