CHRISTINA AGUILERA
Christina Aguilera is one of the most technically gifted vocalists of her generation — a singer with a four-octave range whose career has been defined by constant reinvention, from teen pop icon to provocateur to retro soul siren. Rolling Stone ranks her among the greatest singers of all time, and with over 100 million records sold worldwide, she remains one of the best-selling music artists in history.
Her self-titled debut Christina Aguilera (1999) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced three Hot 100 number-one singles — “Genie in a Bottle”, “What a Girl Wants” and “Come on Over Baby” — earning her the Grammy for Best New Artist. The Spanish-language Mi Reflejo (2000) became the best-selling Latin pop album of that year and won Best Female Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammys. Stripped (2002) marked a bold image overhaul, selling 12 million copies globally and yielding “Beautiful”, which won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammys and became an enduring LGBT anthem. The retro-inspired double album Back to Basics (2006) debuted at number one in the US and multiple countries worldwide, while its lead single “Ain’t No Other Man” earned her a second Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Bionic (2010) was a more experimental electronic detour, followed by the R&B and hip-hop-influenced Liberation (2018), which debuted in the US top ten. Her ninth album Aguilera (2022), a tribute to Latin music released in three parts, won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammys.
Throughout her career she has also scored major collaborative hits — “Lady Marmalade” (2001) topped the Hot 100 for five weeks, “Moves like Jagger” (2011) made her the fourth woman to top the chart across three consecutive decades, and “Say Something” (2013) won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys.
