KONNAKOL is ZAYN’s most culturally inspired studio album to date. This pop project expands on the sonic direction first introduced in his debut album Mind of Mine, which broke multiple records and redefined his early sound.
The title KONNAKOL refers to the South Indian vocal percussion tradition of creating rhythmic sounds using the voice. For ZAYN, however, the concept goes deeper — it represents a sound that echoes a time before language itself existed. Drawing inspiration from his heritage, the album reflects a personal journey of identity, helping him better understand who he is, where he comes from, and where he is heading next.
